The newly-formed Our Lady of Martyrs Anglican Use Society in Nashville, Tennessee, celebrated its first Solemn Evensong and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament this past Thursday evening. There were between sixty and seventy people in attendance, including current and former Anglicans, as well as a number of interested Roman Catholics. The presider was Fr. Prentice Dean, a recent Pastoral Provision ordinand, who serves as both the vice chancellor of the Diocese of Nashville and as assisting priest at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Fr. Dean has posted both his reflections on OLM's initial celebration and his homily from that night on the Society’s fledgling web site. In addition, a very friendly review of the service has been posted in the forums at Musica Sacra.
Congratulations to the people of Our Lady of Martyrs! Let us all pray for the success of this new Anglican Use community.
